DIVERSITY | COMMUNITY

PREVENTION AND EARLY INTERVENTION

Our members represent the rich diversity woven through the fabric of our community. Our aim is to steady them amongst challenges and disparities. Like the life-centering rainbow breathing technique, Brother Be Well’s cultural hues blend in harmony where a balance is struck, giving meaning and measure to the wellness journey. A true model of community, our program appreciates the life perspectives and shared experiences of our members, placing brotherhood at the heart. Brother Be Well is a platform for learning and growing, celebrating the rainbow, and supporting individuals who would otherwise be unaware of how to address mental health concerns with strength and resilience.

OBJECTIVES

To provide a safe, supported platform where boys and men of color can normalize conversations about mental health.

Reframing concepts to emphasize mental health strategies that promote prevention and resilience as a complement to treatment and services.

Expanding approaches to address community conditions that influence mental health and wellbeing in addition to those that focus on individuals.

Integration of gender and culture-informed strategies that meet men and boys where they are, and that recognize and embrace a broad range of positive gender qualities.

Integration of technology, broadcasting, new media, and innovation to advance wellness, and for exposure to creative prevention and early intervention strategies.
