Brother Be Well Wellness for Boys and Men of Color

The way I choose to empower others is to lead by example. As the leader in my family, I have everyone counting on me to be my best. It is a lot of responsibility, but I knew that the best way for me to set a good example for my family was to get my education. I realize I have to be what I want in this life. If I can motivate those around me to better themselves simply by being a man that I admire, then I know that my actions are empowering. Young men of color can use more empowerment, especially in the area of mental health. I want to show young men that their vulnerability is a superpower. Even though being a vulnerable man is not popular in our society, together we can break down the stigma, which will help us reshape the outlook on mental health in our communities. Furthermore, it can give young men the strength to ask for help if they are suffering with mental health issues. If we can empower and enlighten young men with more mental health awareness and resources, our communities will greatly benefit.
